After Angel's wings were mutilated, Apocalypse offered to restore them if Angel would serve as one of his Four Horsemen. Apocalypse subjected Angel to extensive genetic alterations, giving him blue skin and organic metal wings which could cut through almost anything.

To rescue Kitty, Storm challenged Callisto to a duel for leadership of the Morlocks. After defeating Callisto, Storm decreed that the Morlocks would no longer kidnap and terrorize surface-dwellers.

Scott Summers, a.k.a. Cyclops, was rescued from the "foster care" of Jack Winters, a mutant criminal known as the Jack O'Diamonds, and enlisted by Xavier as the first member of the X-Men.

Jason Wyngarde, also known as Mastermind, became a probationary member pending his subversion of the Jean Grey into the Hellfire Club's Black Queen.

When the X-Men were kidnapped by the Brood, they were all implanted with a Brood embryo that would eventually "hatch" and turn them into Brood queens. But Wolverine's embryo couldn't remold his adamantium skeleton and died in the attempt.

After critically wounding herself in an attempt to destroy the Brood parasite that had infected her, Storm was discovered by the Acanti, a peaceful space-faring species that roughly resemble reddish-brown whales. The Acanti saved Storm by entering into a symbiotic relationship in which she and the Acanti became one being.

Storm christened Kitty with her very first code name: Sprite.

Callisto kidnapped Angel to be her Morlock prince and clipped his pin-feathers to prevent him from escaping or injuring himself flying around the dark underground tunnels.

Cerebro first appeared in X-Men #7 (September 1964). It was created by Professor X and Magneto, and was later enhanced by Dr. Hank McCoy.

In New Mutants Annual #2 (1986), Elizabeth "Betsy" Braddock is kidnapped from the Alps by Mojo, brainwashed, given cybernetic eyes, and referred to as "Psylocke" for the first time.
