Wilmington's annual Peoples' Festival is a tribute to Bob Marley, who lived in Wilmington while trying to earn money enough to establish his Tuff Gong music studio in Kingston, Jamaica. His son Stephen Marley was born in Wilmington in 1972. Founded in 1994, the festival features reggae and world beat musicians playing original music and Bob Marley and the Wailers songs. The festival is held on the Wilmington riverfront each summer.

Harry Coover, born in Newark, Delaware in 1917, was the inventor of Eastman 910--commonly known as Super Glue. But this was just one of his many discoveries. At the time of his death, Coover held 460 patents.
Middletown was originally just a tavern stop about half-way on the old cart road that extends across the peninsula between Appoquinimink Creek in Odessa and Bohemia Landing on the eastern branch of the Bohemia River in Maryland--thus the name "Middletown."
