Later Snape reveals that he is the Half-Blood Prince, his mother being a witch named Eileen Prince, and his father a muggle named Tobias Snape.
In his will, Dumbledore leaves Ron his Deluminator, which has "the power to suck all light from a place, and restore it, with a simple click." It also helps guide Ron back to Harry and Hermione after he leaves them in the woods.

Dumbledore is buried with the elder wand, the most powerful wand of wizardkind. Voldemort steals it from Dumbledore's grave, but since he was not the "rightful owner" of the wand it does not perform as it should. Because Snape killed Dumbledore, Voldemort must then kill Snape in order to receive the full power of the wand.
When Snape is dying, he has Harry collect his memories. Harry then finds out that Snape has loved Lily since they were children and he protected Harry because of his love for Harry's mother.
