"Pretty Hurts" was initially written for Katy Perry and then offered to Rihanna; both artists failed to record the track and as a result it was sent to Beyoncé instead.
The song's music video was inspired by the dancing of Cyd Charisse and Fred Astaire in the 1953 musical comedy film The Band Wagon. In it, Beyoncé flirtatiously dances with R&B singer Usher.
"Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" won three Grammy Awards in 2010, including Song of the Year.
"Crazy in Love" won three awards at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards in the categories of Best Female Video, Best R&B Video, and Best Choreography.
The group changed their name to Destiny's Child in 1996, based upon a passage in the Book of Isaiah: "But as for you who forsake the Lord/and forget my holy mountain/who spread a table for Fortune/and fill bowls of mixed wine for Destiny".
Her interest in music and performing continued after winning a school talent show at age seven, singing John Lennon's "Imagine".
Solange is also a singer and a former back up dancer for Destiny's Child.
