In "Lookin' Out My Back Door", Creedence Clearwater Revival sang:
"Giant doin' cartwheels, statue wearin' high heels
Look at all the happy creatures dancin' on the lawn
Dinosaur Victrola list'nin' to Buck Owens
Doo, doo, doo, lookin' out my back door"
"I've got a tiger by the tail, it's plain to see;
I won't be much when you get through' with me
Well, I'm a losing weight and a turnin' mighty pale
Looks like I've got a tiger by the tail"
Owens and Raye recorded a number of hit albums and singles together, and were one of the most successful country duet acts of the era. Raye married Owens' drummer Jerry Wiggins in 1972, and they stayed together for over 40 years until his death in 2018.
"I got the hungrys for your love and I'm waitin' in your welfare line
Well I ain't got nothing but the shirt on my back and an old two button suit
I walked out on my job about a week ago and now I'm sleepin' in a telephone booth
But I'm a gonna be the richest guy around the day you say you're mine"
