On Feb. 24, 1992, Cobain and Courtney Love got hitched on Waikiki Beach in Hawaii. Cobain wore green pajamas because, as he said at the time, he was "too lazy to put on a tux".
When I'm watching my TV
And a man comes on and tells me
How white my shirts can be
Well he can't be a man cause he doesn't smoke
The same cigarettes as me
I can't get no, oh no, no, no
Hey, hey, hey, that's what I say
I can't get no satisfaction
In 1989, Russian cosmonauts took a Pink Floyd album with them to the MIR space station. Sadly, it wasn't The Dark Side of the Moon. It was their 1988 live album Delicate Sound of Thunder, which was the only one of their albums that was officially released in Russia.
"Dancing in the Dark" was the biggest of seven hit singles from Born in the U.S.A. (1984), peaking at No. 2 on the Billboard singles chart. The video featured a young Courteney Cox dancing on stage with Springsteen, which helped launch her career.
On July 3, 1971, he was found dead in the bath at the age of 27--the same age as several other famous rock stars in the 27 Club, including Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and Kurt Cobain. After Cobain's death, his mother told The Daily World--"Now he's gone and joined that stupid club. I told him not to join that stupid club."
"The Battle of Evermore" is perhaps Led Zeppelin's clearest example of a Tolkien-inspired, nostalgic soundscape that attempts to situate the listener in a spatialized fantasy world. Robert Plant felt he needed another voice to tell the story that plays out in the song, so Sandy Denny from Fairport Convention was brought in. Her vocals represent the people as the town crier, while Plant's voice is the narrator.
During the show, Hendrix gave an especially dynamic performance before setting his guitar on fire at the end of a 45-minute set. In the wake of the stunt, members of London's press labeled Hendrix the "Black Elvis" and the "Wild Man of Borneo".
