It would take an eternity to break us
And the chains of Amistad couldn't hold us
'Cause your love is my love
And my love is your love
Houston popularized the phrase "Hell to the no" on the series and was nominated for a VH-1 "Big In '05 Award" for "Quote of the Year". This phrase also appeared on T-shirts.
Houston's 1991 performance of the national anthem at the Super Bowl is regarded as one of the best versions ever performed, but Houston was also criticized as rumors circulated that she was lip-syncing to a pre-recorded track.
And when the night falls, loneliness calls
Oh, I wanna dance with somebody
I wanna feel the heat with somebody
Yeah, I wanna dance with somebody
With somebody who loves me
On February 11, 2012, Houston was found dead at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California. The coroner's report showed that she had accidentally drowned in the bathtub, with heart disease and cocaine use as contributing factors.
Among those who performed at the funeral were Stevie Wonder (rewritten version of "Ribbon in the Sky", and "Love's in Need of Love Today"), CeCe Winans ("Don't Cry", and "Jesus Loves Me"), Alicia Keys ("Send Me an Angel"), Kim Burrell (rewritten version of "A Change Is Gonna Come"), and R. Kelly ("I Look to You"). Aretha Franklin was listed on the program and was expected to sing, but was unable to attend the service.
All three songs re-entered the Billboard Hot 100 chart, after Houston's death in 2012, debuting the same week at numbers 7 ("I Will Always Love You"), 35 ("I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)"), and 41 ("Greatest Love of All"), giving Houston three posthumous chart hits.
The ride with you was worth the fall my friend
Loving you makes life worth living
Didn't we almost have it all
The night we held on till the morning
You know you'll never love that way again
Didn't we almost have it all
