Bearded dragons are bred in a number of varieties called morphs. A "trans" has translucent skin. A "hypo" is almost pastel in appearance. A "witblit" has no color but does have patterning. A "niffler" is a magical creature from the fictional world of Harry Potter.

Bearded dragons like to spend most of their time sunbathing or "basking", but they are deceptively quick and capable of running at speeds of up to 9 mph. They are also one of the easiest lizards to leash train, so a walk around your local park isn't out of the question--assuming you can keep up!

Studies of wild dragons have shown that termites compose over 60% of the stomach contents of those studied.

The oldest bearded dragon ever was Sebastian, who died at the ripe old age of 18 years, 237 days on 24 January 2016. He was owned by Lee-Anne Burgess of Middlesex, UK.
