Stinger is the 6 foot 9 inch bright green mascot of the Columbus Blue Jackets. He is a yellowjacket, who was originally yellow and has been mixed with team's blue to make green, with red eyes. Stinger wears the number 00, shortened from 2000, for the year the Blue Jackets were founded.

On 3 April, 2018, Artemi Panarin surpassed the Blue Jackets' franchise points record after scoring 80 points in 80 games, finishing the season with 82. The following season, Panarin would break his own record, setting a new Blue Jackets-franchise point-scoring record with 87 points.
On November 29, 2016, the team began a winning streak that ran to 16 consecutive games, including a perfect 14-0-0 record in December, but ended on January 3, 2017 with a loss to the Washington Capitals. The 16 game winning streak was one short of the NHL record 17 games, set by the 1992-93 Pittsburgh Penguins.
