The team was originally owned by the Labatt Brewing Company, makers of the popular beer Labatt's Blue.
Bautista finished the 2010 season with an MLB-leading 54 home runs, winning the AL Hank Aaron and Silver Slugger Awards for his offensive performance.
On September 2, 1990, Dave Stieb pitched the first no-hitter in Blue Jays history, defeating the Cleveland Indians 3-0. Previously Stieb had no-hitters broken up with two outs and two strikes in the top of the ninth inning in two consecutive starts (September 24 & 30, 1988).
In Toronto's 5-3 victory over the New York Yankees on March 31, 2018, Kevin Pillar became the first Blue Jay to steal three bases in one inning, when he stole second, third, and home plate in the eighth. It was also the team's first successful straight steal of home since Aaron Hill did so in 2007.
In 1992, the Jays became the first team based outside the United States to win the World Series, defeating the Atlanta Braves four games to two.
In 1993, his breakout season, John Olerud led the American League in batting average (.363), intentional walks (33), times on base (321), on-base percentage (.473), OPS (1.072), and doubles (54, also a career high), while posting career highs in home runs (24), runs batted in (107), runs (109), and hits (200). He flirted with a .400 batting average for much of the season, with his average staying higher than .400 as late as August 24.
Al Woods was on the Opening Day roster for the Blue Jays' inaugural season. In his--and the team's--first ever major league game on April 7, 1977, he entered the game in the fifth inning as a pinch hitter for right fielder Steve Bowling. With the Jays holding a 5-4 lead, Woods stepped up for the very first time and blasted a two-run home run.
