They frequently visit Central Perk throughout the series. It is located in New York City's Greenwich Village, exactly 97 steps away from Chandler and Joey's apartment as Joey counts in "The One With George Stephanopoulos".

"Smelly Cat" first appeared in the second season episode "The One With The Baby On The Bus" when Phoebe mentions the song in a conversation with Rachel. At the end of the episode she teaches musician Stephanie Schiffer (played by guest star Chrissie Hynde) to play the song.

When Rachel decides that she and Ross should "take a break" from their relationship, Ross takes this to mean that they've broken up and sleeps with another woman. Rachel gets back together with him the next day, but breaks up when she learns of his infidelity, prompting Ross' frequently repeated claim that "We were on a break!"

During the span of the show, Ross is married to Carol Willick, Emily Waltham, and Rachel Green.

Although Jennifer Aniston disliked the hairstyle she wore during season 2, fans spent hours with a hair dryer and a round brush trying to re-create "The Rachel".

When Monica gets stung by a jellyfish, Joey remembers a documentary he saw that mentions a cure for jellyfish stings--urine. Monica tries to pee on the wound, but can't bend that way, so Joey steps up. Unfortunately, Joey gets stage fright--leaving Chandler to do the dirty work.

Joey gets his big break when he lands the role of Dr. Drake Ramoray. He had initially gone in to read for a one-shot role as a cab driver, but got the recurring role after sleeping with the casting director.

Ross claims to have "given up a career in basketball" to become a paleontologist.

On one occasion in "The One Where The Monkey Gets Away," Rachel has to look after Marcel the monkey and while watching a soap together he runs off. She quickly reports him missing, much to the dismay of Ross, as Marcel is an illegal exotic animal.
