In "Dear Dad", "Dear Dad ... Again", and "Dear Dad ... Three", Hawkeye composes letters to his dad about the goings-on at the 4077th.
Klinger proposes to Soon-Lee Han, a Korean woman, but much to his frustration, she insists that she can't leave Korea until she finds her family. Hawkeye leaves Father Mulcahy a nickel, a reference to the time Mulcahy got away with getting revenge on a careless General by ruining the General's elegant meal (which was holding up dinner for everyone else in the camp) and the General promised that Mulcahy's life wouldn't be worth "a plugged nickel" if he wasn't a priest.
The 4077th prepares a party for the children at the orphanage and Hawkeye is chosen to be Santa Claus, but just as the party is about to begin, an emergency call comes about a critically wounded soldier at the front. So Hawkeye ends up being transported by helicopter and performing emergency surgery in costume.
